About me

As a well-rounded product designer, I strike the balance between a high level of craft and a deep immersion into UX.

philip demir @ NSW DCJ, 2025

In over 10 years at agency and in-house environments across the world, I have led the design of world-changing SaaS, enterprise and government products. My experience covers many industries and team structures, from being a sole champion for design in complex orgs, to leading and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.

My approach to design

Thinking

I think of product design as simplifying the complex for the people who are trying live their lives as frictionlessly as possible. Business realities provide reasonable constraints, but also big ambitions that inspire my creativity and problem solving.

Collaboration

When collaborating on a team, I maintain a curious, open mindset. I lean in to the expertise of those around me to plug the gaps in my knowledge, while offering my support in return.

Leadership

I am a confident advocate for user-centred design and the long-term goals of the brand. In-house and agency teams communicate with each other and with stakeholders in very different ways. I understand and empathise with every party’s unique needs to support and add value, not to block or challenge without sound reasoning.

Decision-making

This is a careful art that balances all the factors at play. The best approach is to be as informed as possible with a solid, data-informed case that clearly addresses the problem at hand. Self-confidence is the final key to making sure that proposals land in the best possible way.

How I operate within teams
