Historically, owners of Tata Motors vehicles would have to download three apps to handle distinct tasks.
TCS Interactive were tasked with creating a single ownership experience in the form of a brand new app.
This consolidated app includes remote operation of key functions, trip navigation, booking a service, driving score, a store to purchase accessories, a valet mode, a community hub called Tribes and much more.
I played a large part in the development of a design system for the app, an evolution of the web system which is now better optimised for smaller screens.
This began with the foundations of a tight typography, colour and iconography system, which were then applied to components such as buttons, form elements, cards, banners, map controls and more.
The brand blue colour siginifies zones of interaction. We adopted the philosophy of Apple products, who's clean software 'just works'.
Being a cruicial component in automotive design language, I played a pivotal role in the development of characterful icons. Chunky stroke widths and chamfered corners give a high-tech, automotive feel.
I was responsible for the design of the menu and account screens, each being key functionality to the overall user experience of the app.
Included in this experience is the viewing/editing of personal details, emergency contacts, my vehicles, booking, referrals, rewards, log in/out and more.
The biggest challenges I faced were condensing a large amount of user data within a small viewport, and maintaining consistent design patterns across many user journeys.
